“There is One Gospel” is an album that was released on August 25, 2022, just about 2 ½ months ago. The album is named after a song on the album with the same name. This song is saturated with the Scriptures through imagery, allusions to biblical texts, or direct references to specific verses. I want to highlight a verse from this new song.

“For there, where justice and mercy meet He saved me on the cross No more I boast in what I can bring No more I carry the weight of sin”

These words come in the 2nd verse of the song. Here we see a beautiful picture of the gospel. It is on the cross where the justice of God and His mercy meet (Romans 3:26). God, in the death of Christ, is justified in punishing sin, but also is the justifier since He is the one who has saved us through His Son, Jesus. When we come to Christ there is no more boasting, except in the cross of Christ (1 Corinthians 1:30-31; Jeremiah 9:23-24). We boast in the cross, because we no longer are the one who must carry the weight of sin, because Jesus has become sin for us and has given us His perfect righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21)! He invites you today to come to Him and take His light burden and He will take your heavy burden (Matthew 11:28-30).

Below you will see CityAlight’s live music video with lyrics to enjoy and to worship! If you would also like to listen to this song in the car on Spotify, follow this link: https://open.spotify.com/track/7M7GDNDz5c4PwqgGwsWJET?si=604ea108b1954bf2

We introduced this song 2 weeks ago and will continue to sing it together as a congregation throughout this month! After this month it will become part of our song rotation in our worship service.  Let us sing together, “Praise to my Saviour, the King of life I stand in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!”
