This week with our "Worship Wednesday" we are highlighting a song called "Living Hope" by Phil Wickham and Brian Johnson. This song was released in 2018 as a single and then as part of his later album "Living Hope" released that same year.

We have been signing this song that last few weeks at church as we have been working through 1 and 2 Peter. This song focuses God's people on their "living hope" that we have in Jesus. Peter points us in the opening verses of his first letter to the resurrection of Jesus and how that purchases His people an eternal hope.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:3-5)

We are pointed to the great chasm between God and Man due to sin (Genesis 3), how Jesus took on human flesh to come to bear our sin in His body (Luke 2:1-7; 2 Corinthians 5:21), and His resurrection from the dead to defeat sin and death (Matthew 28:1-10). This is the gospel of Jesus Christ that brings us new life and a hope that extends beyond our present world. He gives us a living hope, since He is our living Lord! That should lead us to a greater worship of God for who He is and what He has done for us in Jesus.
